The Blue Face mutation is also known as Blue in Europe. These quail are very dark birds, some nearly black. Female Blue Face range from dark reddish- brown to dark brown marbled with black. They do have a pattern of markings but the body color is so dark that the barring is almost unnoticeable from a distance. Even though this mutation is dark, it is one of the most attractive of all of the new varieties. The chicks are quite distinctive. They occur in two color forms which are single factor and a double Blue Face. The Blue Face mutation occurs in two color forms which are single factor and a double Blue Face. This mutation is dominant to the normal wild type.
The Blue Face mutation produces beautiful combinations when bred to Pearl, Cinnamon, Fawn, Silver and even Red Breasted.
